Starship – We Built This City

This song. Oooooh this song.

Okay, I normally save this section to just talk about the sounds involved in the song, and then make some sort of genius quip about something… something… music or terribly un-funny but I laugh and maybe one of you out there do too. (Thanks Mom.)

This song was heavily produced, meaning lots of layers, keyboards, keyboards on keyboards, and like 80 overdubs. Okay maybe not 80 but like… a lot right? You get the picture.

So I had to cover this one, obviously. I love a good challenge, and it only benefits all of you awesome keyboard players with a Kronos out there since you too get to have the sounds and show off your cool keyboarding skills.

This one was a MONSTER. It’s somewhat tricky to play, there are still some parts that aren’t entirely included since you’d need a third magical hand to pop out and start playing too… and I still managed to get about 98% of the sounds in there.

There *IS* a Youtube video which I’ll link below, but apparently it was literally SO accurate to the album that it was flagged for copyright issues. If you’re in the USA, you can’t view this video. This makes me a sad panda. 🙁

If you know of a way to get around this blocking that Youtube does… Awesome. I know there’s a way but I’m probably not legally able to share that way on my site so… I’ll let you figure that one out. The video is also a complete tutorial on how to play the song using the sounds that I’ve built. On rock and roll.
